Monrovia, Liberia – Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. has extended congratulations to former Liberian President George Manneh Weah following his appointment by FIFA to head the anti-racism Players’ Voice Panel.
In a statement issued Today, September 9, 2025, Senator Snowe described the appointment as a “monumental moment,” not only for football but also for the global fight for equality and justice.
“George, your selection for this role is a testament to your integrity, leadership, and lifelong dedication to confronting injustice head-on,” Snowe said.
The lawmaker noted that racism continues to undermine the values of football, from discriminatory chants in stadiums to systemic barriers faced by players off the pitch. He said FIFA made the right choice in selecting Weah, whom he described as a global icon with an “unparalleled leadership grounded in humility and strength.”
“With your unwavering commitment to fairness, I have absolute confidence that you will steer this high-profile panel with wisdom and impact,” Snowe added.
He further expressed optimism that Weah’s new role would inspire players, fans, and communities worldwide to unite against racism in football and beyond.
“Congratulations, my friend. I am super proud of you,” Snowe concluded.
