Bomi County, Liberia – Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. has officially launched the second edition of his Vacation Job Program, this time engaging students in community clean-up exercises across the county.
Unlike the inaugural edition, which focused mainly on work at the senator’s personal farm, the 2025 program is centered on public institutions, including schools, streets where students are actively involved in sanitation and cleaning activities.
The initiative runs for five working days, with participants working three hours daily. Each student receives a stipend of US$5 per day, totaling US$25 (about LRD 5,000) at the program’s close.
According to Senator Snowe, the students were selected through a competitive process led by their respective school administrations. Eligibility was limited to students presenting valid ID cards and their most recent report cards. In total, 22 schools from all five administrative districts of Bomi County are represented in the program.
Senator Snowe stressed that the initiative is not only meant to provide students with short-term income but also to instill a culture of discipline, responsibility, and community service during the vacation period.
