The event marked a significant milestone in the nation's judicial calendar, highlighting the importance of justice, integrity, and the rule of law.
President Boakai congratulated the new Chief Justice, Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay, and Associate Justice, Boakai N. Kanneh, on their appointments. He emphasized the need for judicial reforms, citing concerns about the slow pace of trials, lack of transparency, and perceived biases in the justice system. The President assured the Judiciary of his Administration's support for reforms aimed at strengthening judicial integrity, improving case management, and decentralizing justice delivery.
The President highlighted the interconnectedness of justice and development, emphasizing that a nation cannot progress without a robust justice system. He noted that the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, with Pillar 3 focusing on the Rule of Law, underscores the importance of justice in building a peaceful and prosperous Liberia.
President Boakai urged judges, magistrates, and lawyers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, dignity, and professionalism. He emphasized that justice begins with how citizens treat each other, calling on Liberians to promote fairness and compassion in their daily lives.
The President concluded by emphasizing the need for collaboration between the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary to build a justice system that is impartial, accessible, and worthy of the people's trust. He called for a renewed commitment to justice, integrity, and the rule of law, as Liberia strives for a brighter future.
