The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco have signed a partnership agreement aimed at enhancing the capacity of journalists and media professionals in Liberia. The agreement was reached during a high-level meeting held on October 3, 2025, at the Moroccan Embassy in Monrovia.
The partnership seeks to address the technical, training, and institutional capacity gaps facing the Liberian media, particularly in areas of digital innovation, professional development, and media resilience. The PUL hopes to leverage Morocco's experience in digital innovation and training to strengthen Liberia's media sector.
The Moroccan government has expressed its commitment to supporting Liberia's national development priorities, including the advancement of media professionalism and freedom of expression. Morocco's Chargé d'Affaires, Mr. Lahoucine Rahmouni, reaffirmed his country's dedication to promoting South-South cooperation and African solidarity.
PUL President Julius Kanubah expressed gratitude for the Moroccan Embassy's engagement with the Liberian media sector and appealed for partnership and support to address the challenges facing the media. He emphasized the critical role of the media in strengthening democracy and accountability in Liberia.
The partnership between the PUL and the Moroccan Embassy is expected to yield positive outcomes for Liberia's media sector, including enhanced professional development and media resilience.
