Congo Town, Monrovia – April 12, 2025
The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has officially launched its Due Payment Campaign, with a massive show of support at the party's headquarters in Congo Town. The initiative was launched by former Liberian President and CDC Standard Bearer George Manneh Weah. This signals a renewed push to strengthen the party’s grassroots engagement and financial base.
It highlights the significance of CDC's payment due from members. The campaign kick-off drew thousands of passionate partisans, chanting and waving party regalias. He used the occasion to energize supporters and reassert the CDC’s influence as a dominant political force in Liberia.
During his address,he reflected on the narrow defeat in the 2023 presidential election, and portrayed the CDC's concession as a sign of patriotism and respect for democratic principles. Mr. Weah also strongly criticized the current Unity Party-led government. He pointed to increasing national challenges.
Mr.Weah further encouraged reconciliation within the party by appealing to former members to return and help build a united front. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, reorganization, and preparation as key pillars for the CDC’s resurgence. Ensuring CDC due payment would greatly contribute to these efforts.
The program ended with the former president officially launching the campaign. He outlined it as a vital step toward the party’s long-term goals. He called it a journey toward reclaiming national leadership.
