Weajor, Dewein District, Bomi County – In a significant gesture to mark his birthday, Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. on yesterday broke ground for the construction of a modern clinic in Weajor Town, Dewein District.
The groundbreaking ceremony drew scores of residents, local leaders, youth representatives, and women groups who gathered to witness what many described as a historic development for the community.
Speaking during the ceremony, Senator Snowe said the project is a direct response to the pressing healthcare challenges faced by residents of Dewein District. He noted that for years, citizens have struggled with limited access to basic medical services, often traveling long distances to seek treatment.
According to the Senator, the new clinic will significantly improve access to primary healthcare, reduce travel burdens on families, and strengthen health service delivery within the district.
“This clinic is about bringing healthcare closer to our people,” Senator Snowe said. “No community should be left behind when it comes to access to basic medical services.”
He assured residents that construction will proceed swiftly and is expected to be completed within a short period of time.
Importantly, Senator Snowe clarified that the clinic is not being funded by government resources. He emphasized that the project is being financed entirely from his personal funds as part of his commitment to giving back to the people of Bomi County.
“This is my own way of celebrating my birthday, by investing in the health and well-being of the people who elected me,” he added.
Residents of Weajor and surrounding communities welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely and practical intervention that will address long-standing healthcare constraints in the area.
Community leaders praised the Senator’s decision to undertake what they termed an impactful and people-centered project, expressing hope that the facility will bring lasting transformation to healthcare delivery in Dewein District.
Once completed, the clinic is expected to serve Weajor Town and several nearby communities, easing pressure on distant health facilities and improving overall public health outcomes in the region.
