MONROVIA, LIBERIA - The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has announced a temporary suspension of mail shipments to the United States, effective August 25, 2025. The suspension is due to recent changes in US customs regulations, which will require customs duties to be paid on every shipment, regardless of the value of the goods.
The ministry has informed the public that all shipments of mail to the US will be suspended until further notice. However, postal services to other countries around the world will continue uninterrupted.
The suspension is a result of the US government's decision to suspend the de-minimis rule for airmail shipments. This rule previously allowed for shipments of low-value goods to be imported into the US without incurring customs duties. With the suspension of this rule, airlines conveying mail to the US will now be required to pay customs duties on every shipment.
The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has apologized for any inconvenience this may cause and has urged customers to exercise patience and understanding as they work to address the issue. The ministry has also assured the public that they will notify them as soon as the suspension is lifted.
Customers with questions or concerns can contact the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. The ministry is committed to providing updates and support to its valued customers and the general public.
