Today, August 28, 2025, Liberia’s Chief Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay, Sr. announced the launch of a sweeping judiciary-wide Credential Audit aimed at strengthening integrity and restoring public confidence in the justice system.
In a ceremony at the Temple of Justice, Chief Justice Gbeisay emphasized the importance of professionalism and transparency within the judiciary. He ordered a comprehensive Personnel Verification and Credential Audit across the Judiciary Branch, in partnership with the Civil Service Agency (CSA).
The initiative kicked off today and will run through September 4, 2025. The initial focus is on the 1st and 6th Judicial Circuits in Montserrado County, including key courts such as the Temple of Justice and several magisterial courts.
CSA Director General Josiah Joakai expressed gratitude to Justice Gbeisay for initiating the process, promising that the audit will be conducted transparently and meticulously. Three specialized teams have been deployed to various court locations to carry out the verification, ensuring that all judiciary personnel possess the necessary academic qualifications and professional experience.
“We will conduct what I call ‘credential audits’ to ensure that all staff of the Judiciary have the required academic qualification and experience to effectively perform their duties,” Chief Justice Gbeisay stated, reaffirming his commitment made during his induction on August 15, 2025.
This reform effort builds on previous rebranding initiatives and introduces key measures designed to reinforce institutional integrity, improve operational efficiency, and align human resources with Liberia’s justice delivery goals.
