CAPITOL HILL, MONROVIA – In a solemn and spirited address at the Liberian Senate, newly inducted Senator Samuel Kogar of Nimba County paid tribute to the late Senator Prince Yormie Johnson, while committing to a leadership of unity, service, and national development.
Beginning with a moment of silence for the fallen political giant, Kogar acknowledged the enduring legacy of Johnson, describing him as a "towering political figure" whose influence remains etched in Nimba and across Liberia.
“To God Almighty be all the glory,” Kogar opened, expressing gratitude to his constituents for their continued faith, dating back to his first election in 2011 as Representative of District #5 in Nimba County.
Kogar emphasized that his new role transcends partisanship, stating, “I stand here not just as a partisan politician, but as a national leader… The people of Liberia deserve unity, not division.”
As a member of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), he assured fellow lawmakers of constructive collaboration and declared his firm intention to advocate relentlessly for the interest of Nimba and Liberia at large.
With a call to unity among senators, Kogar urged support for the national development agenda, reminding his colleagues that “Liberia is bigger than all of us, and the time to act in her favor is now.”
In closing, he invoked divine guidance, pledging to serve with integrity and purpose: “I am confident that my presence in this Senate will bring great things to Nimba County, and by extension, to our beloved Liberia.”
