Monrovia, Liberia — The Ministry of Education and Liberia National Police has with immediate effect ban schools from parading the street and called on those involved to adhere strictly to the directive.
According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Jarso Jallah, the ban comes after growing concerns about student safety, public disturbances, and repeated violations of the Ministry’s 2024–2025 academic guidelines.
The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Liberia National Police, announced through a press conference this evening with the immediate enforcement of ban on street parades across the country during school celebrations, including Gala Day, graduations, and WASSCE-related festivities.
Minister Jallah highlighted that unsanctioned and disorderly street parades have frequently endangered students, especially in traffic-heavy areas, while also disrupting public peace.
“This is not a ban on celebration itself, Schools may still organize events and parades, but these must be held in safe, designated spaces such as sports fields, town halls, stadiums, or other open areas.” The Minister of Education emphasized.
Furthermore, Dr. Jallah called on school authorities, parents, and students to adhere strictly to the directive, warning that violations will attract legal consequences, with enforcement led by the Liberia National Police.
