Monrovia, Liberia - The Women's Legislative Caucus of Liberia (WLC) has condemned the alleged rape incident involving a Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, calling for swift and just action. The Caucus expressed solidarity with the survivor and emphasized the need for an immediate, impartial, and thorough investigation into the case.
The WLC is urging the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Justice, to launch a prompt investigation into the alleged rape incident.
- Protection for the Survivor*: The Caucus demands that the survivor be placed in a safe home or protected environment where she can receive psychosocial support and remain shielded from intimidation or undue influence.
The WLC emphasizes that those who violate the rights of others, particularly women and girls, must be held accountable.
The Women's Legislative Caucus of Liberia reaffirms its commitment to promoting justice, protecting survivors, and advocating for a society where women and girls can live free from violence and fear.
"We view this matter with the utmost seriousness and are committed to ensuring that justice is pursued without fear or favor," said Hon. Ellen Attoh Wreh, Chairperson of the Women's Legislative Caucus of Liberia.
