Monrovia – The Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) has issued a strong public advisory, warning citizens about a fraudulent online campaign falsely claiming that the organization is offering grants to individuals, small businesses, and organizations.
In a statement released this week, the LCC clarified that it has no involvement in any form of grant distribution program, nor has it authorized any affiliates or representatives to carry out such initiatives on its behalf. “We wish to clearly state that the Liberia Council of Churches and its affiliates are not engaged in any such grant distribution initiative. Any such claims are false and should be disregarded,” the statement emphasized.
The Council expressed serious concern over the misleading campaign, warning that it is designed to exploit unsuspecting members of the public for fraudulent purposes. According to the LCC, these schemes may compromise personal information and result in financial loss for victims.
The LCC is urging the public to remain vigilant and to avoid engaging with or sharing any information related to the scam. They stressed the importance of verifying all information through official channels before taking action. “The public is advised to exercise caution and to verify information directly through our official communication channels,” the advisory noted.
The organization reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in all of its engagements and operations, assuring the public that any legitimate initiatives or programs would be communicated through its recognized platforms.
Meanwhile, the Liberia Council of Churches is working closely with relevant authorities to investigate the origin of the scam and to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The Council is also encouraging anyone who may have encountered the fraudulent campaign to report it immediately.
