In observance of Liberia’s 177th Independence Day on July 26, the National Youth League of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) held its first national youth town hall meeting in Montserrado County at former President George Manneh Weah’s church in Seminary.

Speaking at the program, the acting chairperson of the CDC National Youth League, Mr. Alvin Wesseh, stated that CDC is the largest political party in West Africa and remains significant. He called upon all partisans from the 15 political counties in Liberia to unite for a strong victory in the 2029 elections.

Mr. Wesseh noted that the CDC would not have lost the recent October 10 general election if the party had been united. He emphasized that in 2029, anyone opposing the National Youth League of CDC would face challenges.

Furthermore, the National Youth League of CDC plans to hold a national retreat in September, featuring a modern town hall setting.

House Speaker Hon. J. Fonati Kofa congratulated the National Youth League of CDC for organizing a quality program, highlighting the importance of understanding party values and maintaining peace while awaiting the 2029 national elections.

Meanwhile, the acting chairman of CDC, Mr. Jankar Cole, criticized President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s government, claiming it is incapable of leading the Liberian people and has caused chaos in just seven months, violating the Liberian constitution.

Chairman Cole further explained that this retreat is an opportunity for the National Youth League of CDC to recalibrate strategies for winning the highest offices in the country in the 2029 elections, where Liberians will choose their leader.
