In a fiery statement on Freedom FM, Freedom Hub most listened to talkshow, Foday N. Massaquoi, Chairman of the CDC-COP, delivered a bold warning to the Boakai-Koung administration, declaring that Liberia's current security apparatus is incapable of withstanding the force of an angry and mobilized population.
“We remind Mr. Boakai that the joint security forces including the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) with 2,150 personnel, the Liberia National Police (LNP) with 4,100, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) with 1,345, the National Security Agency (NSA) with 973, and the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) with 1,242 totaling 9,810 state security personnel, cannot suppress the resistance of even 100,000 angry citizens,” Massaquoi asserted.
He directed fierce criticism at Police Inspector General Gregory O.W. Coleman, calling him “incompetent” and “arrogant,” and accusing him of endangering the lives of underpaid officers. According to Massaquoi, these officers are being exploited deployed to brutalize citizens rather than protect them while Coleman allegedly enriches himself by collecting thousands of dollars from multinational concession companies operating across Liberia.
Massaquoi did not stop there. He described a recent public display of force by the joint security as a pathetic “ balloon showmanship” involving fewer than 350 men, a move he said only exposed the police’s weakness and further highlighted Coleman’s vulnerability.
“Instead of showing strength, the joint security forces revealed just how weak and disorganized they are. Gregory Coleman could be arrested by citizens right from the Police Headquarters. He is the most vulnerable police director this country has ever known,” Massaquoi declared.
The CDC-COP Chairman urged officers across the security sector to refuse to be used as "conduits of hooliganism," reminding them that their loyalty should lie with the people they serve not with those who exploit and endanger them for political gain.
As public frustration rises, Massaquoi’s message serves as both a rallying cry and a stern warning: the people are not afraid and the regime's dwindling capacity to enforce fear may soon be its downfall.
