Monrovia, Liberia – At least seven lawmakers have been identified as persons of interest in the ongoing arson investigation into the Capitol Building fire incident and are expected to appear before the Liberia National Police (LNP) on Friday, June 6, 2025.
According to a release from the House Press Bureau issued Thursday, June 5, the House Judiciary Committee, along with its legal team, will accompany the lawmakers to LNP Headquarters at 10:00 AM.
The police, in a formal communication to the House of Representatives, emphasized that the scheduled meeting is expected to mark the final phase of the investigation. The communication, signed by Inspector General Gregory O. W. Coleman, did not detail specific charges but confirmed the lawmakers' status as persons of interest.
The lawmakers named in the investigation include Representatives J. Fonati Koffa, Frank Saah Foko, Abu B. Kamara, Dixon W. Seboe, Priscilla A. Cooper, J. Marvin Cole, and Jacob C. Debee.
The House Press Bureau said the presence of the Judiciary Committee and legal experts at the meeting will ensure due process and provide legal support to the lawmakers throughout the proceedings.
The House of Representatives expressed confidence that the matter will be handled with professionalism and integrity, with further developments anticipated following Friday’s session.
