Nimba County, Liberia — The Liberia National Police (LNP) has assured the people of Nimba County and Liberians at large of its readiness in providing security for this Tuesday, Senatorial By-Election in Nimba County.
In a media briefing in Nimba, the Inspector General Police, Col. Gregory Coleman disclosed that joint security forces will be deployed to all 681 polling places on Election Day. He emphasized that the process will be void of any form interruption that the people of Nimba County will exercise their constitutional rights freely.
“I assure the general public that all has been done from the security prospective,
the joint security has been working very hard, all agencies have been activated at different roles and responsibilities to ensure that this process is void of any form interruption,” Police IG told Reporters in Nimba County.
Col. Coleman further expressed that election processes in Liberia has been marked by peace, democracy and respect for the rule of law, as such; he is urging every Liberian to abide in accordance with the laws of Liberia.
He at the same time commended Liberians who have supported the process and further urged them to continue with their support. “I want to use this occasion to say thank you to the people of Nimba. They have demonstrated remarkable discipline and respect for the rule of law.” Police IG, Honorable Gregory Coleman in a media briefing in Nimba County.
Meanwhile, IG Coleman told Journalists in Nimba County that there are people who have migrated to Nimba County to cause problem during the election process and also stated that the Liberia National Police will go for anyone who will cause violence through by-election process in Nimba County.
“There are branch of people who have migrated here to cause problem in Nimba County. “We are aware of you, we are aware of your plans. Any attempt to carry your plan out, you will feel us,” the Inspector General of Police warned violators.
The Nimba County Senatorial by-election, which aims to fill the seat left vacant by the late Prince Johnson, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
