The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) has joined the world in commemorating the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, celebrating under the theme: “The Impacts of Digitization and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Workers' Safety and Health.” Events marking the occasion were held at both the Monrovia City Hall and the Paynesville City Hall.
At an internal program, the Human Resource Director of the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), Hilary S. Wornba Jr., called on staff members to maintain high standards of professionalism, discipline, and teamwork in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized that a strong spirit of collaboration and adherence to the corporation’s chain of command are essential for achieving institutional goals.
Director Wornba also stressed that employees’ behavior and performance have a direct impact on the public image of the MCC. He urged them to take pride in their assignments and to recognize their roles in building a more efficient and respected municipal government.
Meanwhile, Michael Washington, Commercial First Aid Manager at the LNRCS, encouraged first aid officers to recommit themselves to excellence in service delivery. Speaking during an engagement session, Washington said professionalism and dedication are pillars that uphold the reputation of the Red Cross.
He called on team members to maintain discipline and embody the core values of the Red Cross in all their operations. According to him, consistently meeting established standards will ensure that the organization remains a trusted source of support and emergency response in communities across Liberia.
The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed annually to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. This year's focus on digitalization and AI reflects growing concerns about how emerging technologies are reshaping the landscape of workplace safety and employee wellbeing.
