A delegation from the World Bank has arrived in Liberia to commence discussions on implementing the West African Single Digital Market Integration, a key component of the World Bank-funded West Africa Regional Digital Integration Project.
During a high-level engagement on Monday with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications in Monrovia, the delegation emphasized that the visit aligns with ECOWAS’ broader vision of establishing a unified digital market across the sub-region.
Narc Lixi, head of the World Bank delegation, explained that the project is focused on enhancing digital infrastructure, improving broadband affordability, and fostering an enabling regulatory environment to attract private sector investment and support cross-border infrastructure development.
Mr. Lixi highlighted Liberia's strategic importance to the project and stressed that boosting internet connectivity in the country is crucial to the overall regional integration effort.
Welcoming the delegation, Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, Hon. Augustine Karpeh, expressed appreciation to the World Bank Group for its continued support. He noted that the initiative will significantly strengthen Liberia’s digital landscape, expanding internet accessibility and accelerating the country’s digital transformation.
