Timbo Bridge, Rivercess County — The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested 18-year-old Patience Swen for alleged possession of a substantial quantity of the illicit drug known as Kush, valued at over USD $2,500.
According to a statement from the LDEA’s Rivercess County Detachment, the suspect was apprehended during a routine security check at the Timbo Bridge checkpoint. A thorough search reportedly uncovered 299.1 grams equivalent to 10 armsof Kush concealed in her belongings.
Authorities estimate the street value of the narcotics at approximately LRD 475,000.
“The suspect is currently undergoing investigation and will be formally charged and forwarded to court in keeping with the laws of the Republic of Liberia,” the agency confirmed.
The arrest comes amid an ongoing national crackdown on synthetic drugs, with Kush identified as a top priority for law enforcement and public health officials due to its growing prevalence among Liberian youth.
The LDEA is calling on the public to support its anti-drug efforts by reporting suspicious activity through its official hotline: 0777-133-333.
Reaffirming its stance, the agency stated: “We remain committed to safeguarding communities from the dangers of drug trafficking and abuse, especially our young people.”
This latest arrest marks a significant step in the agency’s nationwide campaign to dismantle drug networks and combat the spread of synthetic narcotics.
