Capitol Hill, Monrovia – Representative Zinnah A. Norman of Gbarpolu County District #1 has urged the House of Representatives to initiate a formal probe into two critical issues affecting residents of his constituency: the lack of safe drinking water and the delayed construction of a major bridge in the county.
In a formal communication to the House’s plenary, Representative Norman requested that the Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) be summoned to provide a detailed update on water supply services in Gbarpolu. He stressed that many communities are still struggling with access to clean and safe water, a situation he described as both urgent and unacceptable.
Rep. Norman also called for the appearance of the Gbarpolu County Superintendent to explain the administration’s failure to implement a previously adopted Resolution concerning the construction of a key bridge connecting Bamba Town with nearby communities.
“The continued neglect of this project has left residents isolated and hampered development efforts in the area,” he said. “We need accountability and timely action to ensure that the will of the people, as expressed through this Resolution, is respected and implemented.”
He emphasized the need for stronger legislative oversight to ensure that local authorities and government agencies fulfill their responsibilities without delay or obstruction.
The House is expected to deliberate on Rep. Norman’s request in an upcoming session, as national lawmakers continue to prioritize infrastructure and public service delivery across Liberia.
