Gungbaya, Gbarpolu County – Road conditions in Gungbaya Chiefdom, Gbarpolu District #1, are beginning to improve as Representative Zinnah A. Norman launches a major road rehabilitation project aimed at boosting connectivity and easing transportation challenges in the region.
The project, which started earlier this month, focuses on restoring several kilometers of feeder roads that have long been in poor condition. These routes, critical to linking towns and villages, have posed serious difficulties for residents especially during the rainy season, when entire communities become inaccessible.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to the project site, Rep. Norman expressed his commitment to delivering improved infrastructure for his constituents. “This is just the beginning. We recognize the importance of good roads in transforming rural lives. Our people deserve better, and we’re working to deliver on that promise,” he stated.
Currently, heavy-duty equipment and local laborers are at work clearing, grading, and compacting sections of the affected roads. Several areas already show visible progress, signaling a swift pace of work. According to Rep. Norman, funding for the project is sourced from legislative support funds as well as contributions from development partners.
The Gbarpolu lawmaker emphasized that this intervention is part of a broader infrastructure initiative. He revealed plans to extend similar road rehabilitation projects to other parts of District #1, including Norman Town and Mboamai, in the coming months.
“This effort is not limited to one area. Gbarpolu needs a functional road network that serves everyone,” Rep. Norman said. “It’s about equity, access, and making sure no community is left behind in our development agenda.”
