Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has charged and forwarded to court a 67-year-old church mother and classroom teacher for allegedly assaulting a police officer in Sinkor.
According to LNP spokesperson Cecelia G. Clarke, the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 12, at about 7:15 a.m. at the 12th Street intersection. Mrs. Klady A. Paul is accused of verbally confronting officers on duty before physically attacking Patrolman Koilous N. Larmin and damaging a government-issued police communication radio.
Following an investigation, Mrs. Paul was charged with Simple Assault (Chapter 14, Section 14.21(A) of the Penal Code), Criminal Mischief (Chapter 15, Section 15.5), and Disorderly Conduct (Chapter 17, Section 17.3). She has since been turned over to the court for prosecution.
Clarke praised Patrolman Larmin for his “resilience, professionalism, and restraint” during the confrontation, noting that his conduct reflected the discipline expected of LNP officers.
“The Liberia National Police will not tolerate any form of assault or obstruction against its officers,” Clarke said. “This case sends a clear message: the law will be enforced without fear or favor.”
