Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) to graduate about 500 Liberians to be enlisted in the Immigration force.

The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) is set to graduate about 500 men and women to be enlisted in the Immigration force on Saturday, December 7, 2024 in Foyah, Lofa County.
According to the Acting Commissioner-General of LIS, Hon. Elijah Rufus said the training was conducted at the Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Liberia Immigration Service Training Academy in Foyah Lofa County for the period of six weeks. He highlighted that the training was very compacted and intensive, which comprises of basic immigration formalities that the officers will be carried out at border posts and various point of entries.
The training comes amid the Civil Service Agency is expected to retire about 350 personnels from the Liberia Immigration Service, thus creating a need for new personnels to fill the gap and continue to safeguard Liberia’s borders.
“Since the construction of the Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Liberia Immigration Service Training Academy about some ten years ago, this is the first training that we have conducted,” LIS Acting Commissioner-General lamented.
Hon. Rufus disclosed that the training was fully supported by LIS and the government of Liberia with no international support, which over time international partners have been supporting such an exercise.
LIS Acting Boss, Hon. Elijah Rufus further disclosed that the graduation which slated for December 7, 2024 will include about 350 male and 150 female officers graduating from the Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Liberia Immigration Service Training Academy in Foyah, Lofa County, marking a significant step in boosting the Country’s Immigration Force. He said that the Minister of Justice, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh will serve as a keynote speaker during the ceremony.
Hon. Elijah Rufus commended His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his support given to LIS during the training of Liberian who met the requirement of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS).

As Liberia continue to strengthen her security, the Liberia Immigration Service is expected to deploy newly trained immigration officers to various regions in safeguarding Liberia’s borders and immigration integrity.
