The National Elections Commission (NEC) has informed the public and political parties that the candidate nomination exercise for the 2025 District – 5 Representative By – election in Nimba County begins on Monday, June 23 2025 at the headquarters of the Commission on 9th Street, Sinkor.
According to the Commission, the candidate nomination exercise runs from Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5PM daily and will end on Friday, July 4, 2025.
At the same time, NEC called on all Chairpersons, and Secretaries General or any authorized Executive Member of Political Parties that will be permitted to pick up candidate nomination packages for aspirants contesting the election.
Furthermore, NEC announces that Independent Aspirants must appear in person to pick up their candidate nomination package or send an authorized person to the headquarters of the Commission in Sinkor.
However, NEC disclosed that there will be absolutely no extension to the candidate nomination exercise, urged interested persons and parties vying to contest in the Nimba County District # 5 Representative by-election to work according to the deadline of Friday, July 4, 2025.
The by-election comes at a result of the April 22, 2025, Senatorial By-election in Nimba County, which former District #5 Representative Samuel Korga got elected as Senator, felling the vacancy caused by the death of the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson.
