Liberia And Ireland Deepen Partnership To Boost Domestic Revenue Collection.

The Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), James Dorbor Jallah, held a significant meeting today with the Irish Ambassador to Liberia, Gérard Considine, aimed at bolstering efforts towards domestic revenue mobilization. The discussion, which took place at the LRA headquarters, centered around key areas for collaboration to enhance Liberia’s revenue growth and development.

During the meeting, Commissioner General Jallah outlined the LRA ongoing strategies to improve domestic revenue collection and highlighted the critical need for international support in achieving these goals. He emphasized that increased collaboration with Ireland could bring valuable insights and technical expertise to the authority’s plans.

Meanwhile, one of the focal points of the discussions was the development of institutional capacity within the LRA. Ambassador Considine expressed Ireland’s willingness to assist the LRA in this regard, underscoring the importance of training and skill-building for revenue officials to better equip them to handle evolving fiscal challenges.

Another key area that featured prominently in the meeting was the digitalization of Liberia’s tax system. Commissioner General Jallah stressed the need for efficient and technology-driven solutions to enhance transparency and accountability in tax administration. Ambassador Considine assured that Ireland is prepared to provide technical support and resources to aid the digital transformation of the LRA’s operations.

Furthermore, the expansion of the real property tax sector also drew significant attention during the discussions. Both parties agreed that a more robust property tax system could play a crucial role in widening Liberia’s tax base. Ambassador Considine affirmed Ireland’s commitment to providing necessary expertise in this area to help Liberia achieve its revenue goals.

In his remarks, Commissioner General Jallah expressed his appreciation to the Irish government and people for their continuous support to the LRA. He emphasized that such partnerships are vital to achieving Liberia’s fiscal sustainability and strengthening public service delivery through enhanced revenue collection.
