Former Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor has publicly accused the Boakai administration of failing to provide her with the benefits due to her as a former high-ranking government official. During an appearance on Spoon Talk on Sunday April 6th, Taylor revealed that her requests for the entitlements, including a vehicle and security, have gone unanswered.Taylor stated that after she handed over the official vehicle she had used as Vice President to the current Vice President during the inauguration, the government failed to provide a replacement vehicle for her, forcing her to rely on a private car for transportation. She also claimed that after the inauguration, no vehicle was provided to take her home, despite her waiting for over 45 minutes.
In addition to the transportation issue, Taylor expressed frustration over the lack of response from government authorities regarding her rightful financial entitlements and security, which she claims were part of her benefits after leaving office. She urged the Boakai administration to act swiftly to resolve the matter and fulfill her rightful claims.
Beyond her personal grievances, Taylor criticized the Unity Party government for failing to live up to its campaign promises. She highlighted the rising issue of illicit drug use in the country and the government’s failure to effectively address the country’s ongoing economic challenges. Taylor’s remarks reflect growing frustration among citizens and former officials regarding the government’s handling of key national issues.
As the situation unfolds, Taylor’s accusations could have wider implications for the Boakai administration’s public image and its relationship with former officials, raising questions about the treatment of those who have served the country in high positions.
