The United States Embassy near Monrovia has urged the majority and minority blocs of the House of Representatives to maintain the peace of Liberia.

We urge all parties to maintain peace. It is important that leaders show unity. Violence is never the answer, and it serves no one’s interest. We strongly urge both sides to reach compromise, so the important work of the legislature can continue for the Liberian people,” the Embassy through its statement.

The Embassy through its official facebook said that it is monitoring the situation on Capitol Hill and want to see Liberia’s political processes play out peacefully and with respect for the rule of law, as such; is expecting leaders to uphold democracy and its practices.

Amidst the growing tension at the house of representatives, the United States Embassy said it is confident that whatever differences political parties and individual politicians may have, they can come together to address them through direct and peaceful engagement for the good of the nation, urging everyone involved with this situation to uphold the rule of law.

Maintaining a democracy is never easy and there will certainly be tough times, but the key is learning from the missteps and remaining steadfast in knowing there is no place nor benefit to resorting to violence”, U.S. Embassy acknowledged.

The Embassy statement in this times of the Honorable House of Representatives saga is vitals and will play a critical role in the process of maintaining the peace of Liberia. The statement also has sparked discussion among citizens of a timely response from Liberia’s traditional ally and waiting for a feedback from those involved in the situation.
