In a bold address following his return from the 2024 Liberia Investment Forum in Canada and the 79th UN General Assembly in New York, President Joseph Nyumah Boakai Sr. issued a stern warning to unproductive and corrupt officials within his administration. “I Don’t Care How You Feel, The Right Thing Will Be Done!” — stated President Boakai. Speaking at a Thanksgiving ceremony at his Rehab residence in Paynesville, President Boakai expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of Liberia’s development, which he attributed to a lack of commitment from those in power.

President Boakai frustration was evident as he emphasized the need for tangible change and national progress. “I can ride a wheelbarrow to go to that mansion; I don’t care. But this country, we must build ourselves,” he passionately declared, underscoring his willingness to make personal sacrifices to ensure Liberia’s growth. “I want to thank the security of Liberia for maintaining the peace because we are not getting the news we used to get before” President Joseph N. Boakai stated.

Meanwhile, the Liberian leader criticized the absence of a functional system in the country, noting that it has been a significant factor in the nation’s struggles with poverty and underdevelopment. He acknowledged the long road ahead but emphasized the importance of taking decisive action to move Liberia forward. “It will take a long time to bring this country to the level we are hoping for, and that’s why we are moving,” he asserted.

While highlighting the role of international support in Liberia’s development, President Boakai stressed that true change must come from within. He called on Liberians to take responsibility for the nation’s progress, emphasizing that the private sector plays a crucial role in this transformation. “Things will not materialize unless Liberians themselves take responsibility to improve the country,” he remarked.

Addressing the limitations of government employment, President Boakai argued that the country cannot solely rely on the state to provide jobs for everyone. He posed a critical question to his audience: “If the government can employ everybody, then there won’t be a country. If that happens, who will pay? Where is the money coming from?” His statement highlighted the need for a sustainable approach to economic development.

Furthermore, The President’s message was clear, government officials must demonstrate real impact in their roles and not merely occupy positions of power. He urged his administration to prioritize accountability, roll up their sleeves, and work earnestly for the betterment of Liberia.

Additionally, President Boakai also acknowledged the limitations of relying solely on international donor funding for national development. He called on citizens to focus more on self-sufficiency and private enterprise as pathways to sustainable growth.

In his concluding remarks, President Boakai’s address served as a call to action for both government officials and citizens alike, encouraging a collective effort towards a brighter future for Liberia. His focus on accountability, self-reliance, and dedication to progress set the tone for his administration’s commitment to transformative change.
